The mastery of the best artisans of the Afuega´l Pitu DOP results in this strong cheese, with a creamy texture and a certain spicy flavour that is the formula and secret of its adoration. Few people knew about this cheese hidden in our village. Today it is beginning to make a name for itself internationally.
We encourage you to start with a tasting of the most famous cheese in Asturias, a member of the Protected Designation of Origin club. This cheese deserves to be tasted at least once in your life. And we assure you one thing: if you try it, you'll come back for more.
Tasting Notes: Visual: Characteristic and surprising truncated cone shape. With a soft, natural rind, the paprika gives it a striking orangey touch. When cut, it is grainy, tending to be flaky. Olfactory: Lactic aroma, fresh and mild, which increases as the cheese matures. Taste: Strong, dry, slightly acidic and fresh flavour. The paprika gives it a slight spicy touch. It is an astringent and creamy cheese at the same time.
