One of the Catalan classics, exceptional, with a unique aroma. This cheese is made by Betara cheese makers, a family business located in Olost-Perafita, both municipalities in the Osona, Barcelona, region of Catalonia.
Betara's Pirineu goat´s cheese is made from pasteurised goat's milk. With a characteristic grey, rough rind, its texture is creamy and melt-in-the-mouth. It has a white, uniform paste, with a fresh, slightly citric aroma and a creamy, slightly acidic flavour with a nutty aftertaste, which is due to the good raw material used in its production. Its persistent aroma and flavour are reminiscent of the traditional cheese of the Catalan Pyrenees. All this results in a cheese that is guaranteed to be a success wherever it goes.
Betara's star cheese is this goat's cheese, matured for 5 weeks, and winner of the gold medal at the World Cheese Awards 2010.
