L´Alt D´Urgell y La Cerdanya cheee is the only Protected Designation of Origin (DOP) cheese made in Catalonia.
This cheese is made from Friesian cows in all the municipalities of the regions of L'Alt Urgell and La Cerdanya in Catalonia, with a more humid Mediterranean climate due to the influence of the mountain range.
With a natural light orange washed rind, this cheese is made with pasteurised semi-cured cow's milk, collected daily, from the Pyrenees (Alt Urgell and Cerdanya). Tender, creamy texture and fruity aromas with notes of toasted nuts, moss and mushrooms. Ivory-coloured pressed cheese with numerous well-distributed holes of irregular dimensions. Very characteristic taste.
